The Character of God
Wednesday Self-Reflection
Today, I invite you to spend some time in silent consideration. Imagine me sitting with you and asking the following questions. Allow the time to turn into an internal conversation with me. I think this works best as a journalling exercise.
When you were growing up, what did you learn about the character of God? What adjectives did the people around you use to describe God?
Now think about the circles you run in today. How do the people around you now describe God? What do you think about the way they understand or talk about God? Do you find them disturbing? Enlightening? Silly? Profound?
How have your attitudes toward God changed since you were a very young adult? Do you miss anything about the faith of yesteryear? What are you glad you left behind?
