Wednesday Inspiration
It was the fall of 2013. Puppy Loki was about a half-year-old. The puppy that he was, everything was interesting and exciting to him.
Every sound caused his ears to perk up. Every smell pulled his nose into the air. Every new sight demanded to be watched.
Meanwhile, I felt exhausted. Work was dragging me down. Loki's energy was wearing me out. I was at that point where everything in life was a chore that I needed to get through, just so that I could move on to the next chore. My life had become one thing after another after another.
One day, Loki and I were in the front yard and something caught Loki's attention.
The honk of geese overhead.
Loki looked into the sky and watched the v-formation travel South.
He had never seen or heard geese before. Entranced, his eyes did not leave them as they continued to honk and fly. He tracked them across the sky until he could see them no more.
As I watched him transfixed on his new experience, I felt as though I was seeing the world through his puppy eyes. It was as if I was seeing the world once again for the first time.
I was in awe.
I'm very thankful for Puppy Loki teaching me on that day the importance of being mindful of the wonders of the creation in which I am immersed. Work will continue. Struggles will continue. Problems will be there tomorrow.
But this moment is now.
And there is so much wonder in this moment. It's truly amazing. Yet, if we don't choose to see it, we will miss so much of life.
Today, I encourage you to pay attention and embrace the moment. Notice the beauty around you. Experience the awe. Live in gratitude for the life you have received knowing that…
You, too, are a beautiful part of this creation.
Peace, Bo"
