Today, I invite you to spend some time in silent consideration. Imagine me sitting with you and asking the following questions. Allow the time to turn into an internal conversation with me. I think this works best as a journalling exercise.
“I don’t feel like I belong anywhere.” That’s the sound of the spiritual orphan. We all want to belong somewhere. When was the last time you felt like a spiritual orphan? What were the groups around you that you didn’t fit into? Why didn’t you fit in?
“I’m one of these people.” That’s the sound of one who has found a sense of belonging with others, a “spiritual family” if you will. Who makes up your spiritual family? Do they belong to a church or other religious institution (they don’t have to)? What makes them part of your spiritual family?
When you connected with your spiritual family, what was the “adoption” process like? Were there formal or informal rituals (and going for coffee regularly is a ritual)? How does this spiritual family maintain its relational bond?
Peace, Bo

Support the Cause
My mission is to promote the progressive Christian voice in the spiritual/theological marketplace. I hope that by doing so I will help make the world a more loving place one newsletter at a time.
If you are not already a paying subscriber, I encourage you to consider it. It takes many (many) hours each week to create all the content for this project, and by becoming a paid subscriber you support the greater mission through me.
Will you consider becoming a financial supporter of the mission for only $6 per month? If so, I would greatly appreciate it.
