Today, I invite you to spend some time in silent consideration. Imagine me sitting with you and asking the following questions. Allow the time to turn into an internal conversation with me. I think this works best as a journalling exercise.
Paying a “ransom” was a way to buy a slave’s freedom in ancient Rome and liberate them. How have people acted in your life to liberate you from something oppressive? What things or circumstances do you still struggle with from which you need to experience liberation?
Now, think about those things you still need liberation from? Is there anything behind those things or circumstances that led to them that you need liberation from? For example, are there any habits or patterns of behavior that lead to problems for you today?
Now, think back one more layer. What is behind those things that creates those things or circumstances that you need liberation from? For example, are there any narratives you grew up with that are leading to causing you problems today?

Support the Cause
My mission is to promote the progressive Christian voice in the spiritual/theological marketplace. I hope that by doing so I will help make the world a more loving place one newsletter at a time.
If you are not already a paying subscriber, I encourage you to consider it. It takes many (many) hours each week to create all the content for this project, and by becoming a paid subscriber you support the greater mission through me.
Will you consider becoming a financial supporter of the mission for only $6 per month? If so, I would greatly appreciate it.
