Do you find inspiration in these newsletters but don’t want to commit to a paid membership? Consider the option to…
Today, I invite you to spend some time in silent consideration. Imagine me sitting with you and asking the following questions. Allow the time to turn into an internal conversation with me. I think this works best as a journaling exercise.
What kinds of experiences make you feel spiritually connected, grounded, or alive? When you seek out spiritual practices, communities, or content, what do you think you are hoping to receive emotionally or psychologically from them?
How can the pursuit of spiritual experiences subtly become more about comfort, validation, or escape than transformation? When you look honestly at your life, what has shaped you more deeply: dramatic spiritual moments or the slow daily work of becoming more attentive, compassionate, and present?
In what ways has consumer culture shaped how you think about spirituality, fulfillment, and personal growth? Where do you see spirituality being marketed more as an experience to consume than a life to embody? If spirituality is ultimately about transformation rather than chasing extraordinary experiences, what changes might you need to make so that your daily life more fully reflects compassion, attentiveness, and care for the world around you?

Support the Cause
My mission is to promote the progressive Christian voice in the spiritual/theological marketplace. I hope that by doing so I will help make the world a more loving place one newsletter at a time.
If you are not already a paying subscriber, I encourage you to consider it. It takes many (many) hours each week to create all the content for this project, and by becoming a paid subscriber you support the greater mission through me.
Will you consider becoming a financial supporter of the mission?
If so, I would greatly appreciate it.

This is the uncomfortable but necessary question. Spiritual experience can open the door, but transformation is what happens after the incense burns out and we still have to answer emails, forgive people, pay attention, and stop treating compassion like a decorative throw pillow. The mystical high is nice, but the real practice is becoming less of a menace in ordinary life.
